Waxing

Waxing is a great way to reduce unwanted hair and when done properly, can provide you with smooth hairless skin for weeks. Jayme is highly experienced with all types of hair removal, from Brazilian waxing to eyebrow shaping, using Satin Smooth soft wax for quick and efficient removal for the most sensitive areas. Hard wax will sometimes be used as well for those hard to reach areas.

Waxing FAQ’s

Q: How long does the hair have to be to have a thorough waxing?
A: I recommend at least 10-14 days after shaving to remove the hair as smoothly as possible. Picture a granule of rice, about 1/4 inch long. If you feel the hair is too long, I will trim it as it is better to be too long than too short.

Q: How often should I get waxed?
A: Everyone’s hair grows back at different rates, depending on their hair type. Areas such as the brows, lip, etc. can be done every 2-3 weeks at the soonest. Larger, sensitive areas where the hair tends to be coarser, such as the bikini and underarms is recommended every 4-6 weeks.

Q: Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?
A: Waxing pulls the hair from the follicle which weakens the root. This will cause the hair to grow back sparser and softer, and therefore will not stimulate darker hair.

Q: Can certain medications affect the skin for waxing?
A: Yes. There are numerous topical and internal skincare medications that can “thin” the skin causing it to lift or be more sensitive. A consultation will be performed with each waxing to ensure waxing is safe for you. Always let your aesthetician know BEFORE she applies the wax if you are using a prescription skincare medication or aggressive/exfoliating at-home products. Tweezing may be a better option for some.
